Opel Corsa B
Opel Corsa B is the second generation of this popular car model, presented at the Geneva Motor Show in 1993 and produced continuously until 2000. In its version for the European market, the car was offered only as a hatchback in 3- and 5-door versions, but on other continents it was also available as a pickup or convertible. For the European market, the car was 373 cm to 374 cm long (depending on the number of doors), but always 161 cm wide.
Customers had many engines to choose from, including petrol units from 1.0 l to 1.6 l and diesels from 1.5 l to 1.7 l. The cars produced from 50 hp to 80 hp, but they were not impressive in terms of flexibility. The weakest version reached 100 km/h in 20 seconds, and the most powerful – in just under 10 seconds.
Despite its very small size, the car sold well and was relatively well equipped, especially considering the B segment. A great deal of attention was paid to safety – the driver and passengers were protected from many accident consequences by airbags and seat belt pretensioners. The car was produced, depending on the sales market, in 12 factories scattered around the world, and the Tigra and Combo models were also built on its platform.
