Nankang AS 1

Nankang AS 1 is a tyre designed for daily driving. It will perform excellent on both dry and wet surfaces. It is equipped with a modern asymmetric tread that ensures good water drainage and a high level of grip. Efficient drainage of water also influences the fact that the risk of aquaplaning is considerably reduced, and the drive becomes more confident and safe. The tread, consisting of two sections, is responsible not only for the performance during rain. Its internal side includes strips with serrated edges and a central circumferential notch. It ensures a good transmission of wheel movements onto the road, also during a drive on uneven surfaces.

Skid protection is provided by the arched grooves located in the external section of the tyre, as well as by the wide circumferential channels. The model is made of a modern rubber mixture that is additionally enriched with silica compounds. This makes it lightweight and durable which translates into better driving properties of Nankang AS 1. The manufacturer has also improved the tyre’s resistance to mechanical damage, meaning its life has been extended. The tread wears evenly, so the model guarantees full performance over its life, without worrying about a gradual loss of driving parameters. Additionally, driving with Nankang AS 1 is more comfortable due to a lower level of noise, which could be achieved thanks to the tread design. It dampens the sounds emitted by Nankang AS 1 during operation.

Nankang

Nankang is a brand from Taiwan which specialises in the manufacture of economy-class tyres which combine a reasonable price with versatile performance. The company's history dates back to the 1930s, when they started to build the first rubber production plants in Taiwan. However, the brand itself was created at the beginning of the 1950s and very soon gained the recognition and trust of customers. At the beginning, the tyres were bought by Asian drivers, and later on the company started to expand into other countries. Currently their tyres are available in over 100 countries worldwide.

AMAZING! Given that I am not a pilot but a regular user of the car with these tyres (I changed only two during that time: those in front) the car holds the road well. In both dry and wet conditions for Nankang AS 1 I haven’t noticed a lot differences: a tad bit less cornering grip in the wet, but I had to force my hand for it to slightly lose its grip, however, I immediately recovered. Taking curves absolutely precise and immediate steering response to stress. I could not try them on snow as it hasn’t snowed yet :) and I cannot comment on the durability, as I have them only for short period of time. Overall, I can only express absolutely positive opinion. I will complete the set with the two rear tyres and then purchase those tyres again! The price is definitely excelled. The tyres in question are mounted on a Peugeot 207 1.6 HDi 110CV. Finally, I wish to point out that Nankang AS 1 are made in China (along with almost all the products that come to us) although the company Nankang, one of the oldest manufacturers of tyres, is based in Taiwan. I bought 4 new Nankang AS 1 tyres for my BMW E38, because I have an unpleasant impression of used tyres - size 2x 235/50R18 and 2x 255/45R18 and I can honestly say that the only one I can regret now is that I decided so late to buy brand new tyres. The new tread is performing very well, I tested them at 85 mph, and the Bmw series 7 is a heavy car. I will not buy used premium tyres anymore. I recommend new Nankang AS 1 tyres for the same price as used tyres of a higher class. Before buying I meticulously checked whether it is worth it and I can say with my hand at my heart that there is nothing to fear. I highly recommend Nankang AS 1 tyres !!! Many suppliers confirm that these tyres are of good quality. In addition, the company has been around for half a century, so it has a lot of experience and does not sell bad tyres. First of all, I was afraid that they would make noise, but they are really quiet. I really recommend these tyres to those who still hesitate. Try the Nankang AS 1 tyres and you'll find out that I'm right :-) Read more Collapse

I bought those tyres, because I needed cheap set for the summer quickly, and I didn’t want to spend money on used rubber. I was debating with myself if it wasn’t too risky , but it did not disappoint. I changed size 165/70R13 5j13 to 195/40R17 7j17. There is a big difference in grip and drive, of course, a big plus. Growth burning too big not noticed. The car less responsive now to some micro-inequalities which at 13inch could be clearly felt. The faster cornering is not a problem, the tyres stick well to less demanding turns, but on sharp bends I felt a slight loss of traction, in the dry conditions. In the wet conditions, they behave very well, the loss of grip occurs after heavy braking but only when speed was almost completely gone. The car without electronic support, but on these tyres easy to master. Overall, for this money, Nankang AS 1 recommendable. Read more Collapse

Car as standard came with high premium rated tyres fitted, I've worked in the tyre game for several years, I spent approx 15 years in that trade. My first opinion was to try and get new premium tyres at a good price, but over the years such tyres as nankang have made leaps and bounds in the tyre manufacturing process, as with all Motorsport teams now they find it very difficult to separate the differences of performance and agility from their race tyres, this engineering and processes are being handed down to us the average user of a product they test, maby some'll say all you pay for is the the name in many cases and this is true, but in my opinion such tyres as nankangs are a very competitive product that do and will carry on doing showing their big cousins up in a world that requires, a decent tyre of great value that helps the world go round... For 170ps is enough, I have the 370nM and sometimes on second gear I have the impression as if it’s on the verge of losing its grip. In dry conditions there’s no difference between Nankang AS 1 and the more expensive competitors (previous I had PZero). They do not wear so quickly which is a plus. In the rain you can easily go on to the 150km/h. If I want to go faster, I need to focus because sometimes slight loss of control of the car can happen. The tyre looks nicely on the rim. I had several emergency braking from 210km/h and was positively surprised. If someone wants to go faster than 150km/h regardless of the wet conditions they might reconsider buying those tyres, but if ride up to 150km/h is sufficient, they can go ahead and buy. I have an AUDI A8 - so far I have used Italian tyres - in my opinion it these once are one of the best tyres on the market, but they wear out very quickly and are rather expensive, but it is the behavior of a good tyre. Nankang AS 1 tyres are amazing, they are very good on the ground (I tested them on curves in the mountains and are surprisingly quiet, even compared to previous tyres). As for the limits of adhesion, I intend to look at it more carefully. When it comes to tyre wear, it is too early to pronounce opinions on this subject. Overall, I am very happy and I intend to buy them next time. The price is very important to me as well as the silence in the car! I am happy and I recommend the Nankang AS 1 tyre to everyone! I highly recommend those tyres to all. I already have a second set of tyres (both from Oponeo) and do not complain. In this case, the proportion of the price to quality is very good. Nankang AS 1 works really well during dynamic driving. I do not judge the economy, rolling resistance and durability because for me it is irrelevant. With my engine (2.5 V6 194km) tyres from the front axles durable less than 2 seasons and I am happy because till the end the tread was doing very well. Appearance of the tyres, and particularly their positioning on the rim will probably appeal to tunning fans, mainly by the trapezoid shape of the tyre. Let me add that with me they are fitted on the 8J rim. Read more Collapse

As for the mid-range tyres are good. Caused no problems, stick well to dry surfaces, on wet however, with aggressive driving, they sporadically skid in the corners. As for middle class tyres Nankang AS 1 are recommendable. They do okay whether in the city or on highways. I don’t see any significant wear of tread. I don’t see the big advantages when it comes to economics driving, but I also can’t see any minuses. They are neither too loud nor super-quiet, but do not make much noise. But they look pretty cool. There were no problems with balancing. You can tell that they are quite cheap and pretty good so with a clear conscience I recommend. Read more Collapse

Hello everyone who are considering buying Nankang AS 1. I have been the owner of these tyres for several weeks now. My choice fell on these tyres. I am very happy with the purchase so far! The tyre is very attractive, the rim protection works. Balancing without problems! Nankang AS 1 are really calm, they stick well on dry and wet roads. Even at high speed!!! Driving is comfortable! As for wear, I can not say anything, but the tyre is very strong. I have an audi a3. I recommend Nankang AS 1 tyres, because at this price it is difficult to find something better! when buying these tyres I had a choice of either going with used or new ones. i decided to buy new tyres and do not regret the choice. the tyre is very quiet, consistent grip is much better than of my old tyres of a well-known brand which were simply quite aged. i bought two pieces and fit them on the front axle, since then my car loses traction only on the back where over 10 year old goodyear f1 are fitted. for the next season, i'm planning to buy two more pieces and we'll see if oversteering issues will disappear. I recommend these tyres for everyone, especially for those who didn't have anything to do with budget class so far. Contrary to commonly shared views, they aren't noisy and perform well on both dry and wet roads. This is my second purchase of tyres from Nankang company and so far I cannot say anything negative about this manufacturer. The only drawback I noticed is that it seems to me those tyres are less durable than premium class products, that is they get worn faster. Read more Collapse

All this time I've been looking for tyres in an unusual size. All the other manufacturers offer tyres in this size but their price is very high. Nankang allowed me to buy tyres in this size in a decent price and good quality. It's true that the distance these were driven on can't accurately enable me to judge them 100% but so far there have been no issues - especially since the car is after suspension tuning. I can only recommend these tyres for other drivers. Read more Collapse

Tyres bought new, a full set. Balancing was trouble-free, the tyre is rather hard and warms up somewhat long but when it's warm, it sticks nicely to the asphalt. It stretches nicely and has a rather large rim protector. On wet, it's a bit worse and sometimes loses grip when starting or quickly driving on curves but it warns the user with soft "buzzing". In general, I recommend it; it doesn't get worn quickly and is much better than any used tyre. Read more Collapse

I usually purchase expensive Dunlop or good brand tyres. These tyres have impressed me. I drive a decent car with lots of power. The weather in Ireland is mostly wet. Last week we had snow and ice. These tyres were every bit as good as the top brands. The car never slides. I have no problems driving around roundabouts even when wet.If I was putting myself, my family or my beloved car at risk I would take these tyres off straight away. Read more Collapse

My Vito steers perfectly on these tyres. They're soft, quiet and maintain grip in the wet no matter the speed although went up to 150 km/h on a highway. Before I drove on 16s of different brands with the C rating - meaning for vans - and they were very hard but I could get good mileage from those (for example Michelin, Nokian - but price was 2-3 times higher). If these last for two seasons, it'll be enough. So far I did 26000 km. Read more Collapse

Excellent value for money, immediately after changing from winter tyres the noise significantly fell and was noticeable even to my wife!! It keeps traction well on cornering at speeds above 120 km/h. I cannot rate their failure rate as I haven't been using them for long enough. Tyres on dry asphalt stick to the road amazingly (if asphalt is of good quality), on the wet it's also good. I drove around 10000 km on them and they haven't disappointed me so far. In honesty, I became a bit of a fan of these tyres. I recommend them for those who value quality but do not necessarily want to slim down their wallet. Read more Collapse

Riding on a closed track, I did everything to tear them off from a dry pavement using full power of the vehicle and I have to say they stick very well to the road. There were no issues at all with balancing, even the mechanic was surprised. I recommend these tyres as they are truly inexpensive and can give you a lot in return. Read more Collapse

I recommend Nankang AS 1 195/40 / R17, they are really great. Car on both wet and dry road keeps traction perfectly, low profile on the rim looks beautiful, driving is quiet and pleasant. For this money, these are truly worth recommending and for the future season I will definitely purchase nankangs AS1 for new alloy wheels. Read more Collapse

I am not rating parameters such as amortising on uneven roads or durability because with 195/40R17 tyre you cannot really talk about amortisation of any kind (tyre is stretched on an 8J wheel). On dry road it is ok. Last time during a heavy rain driving at 140 km/h on a highway, they would lose traction. Read more Collapse

On Nankang AS1 I drove over 5 thousand km without any faults. Tyres are very durable, the tread doesn't shear off quickly, they stick to dry road well and are very quiet. On wet surface they also stick to the road perfectly and, what is most important, they disperse water very well. Recommended :) Read more Collapse

Having a tire size Alfa Romeo 159 Ti 235/40 ZR19, the choice is very limited. I already tried the German tire and brand italinne are top but very very expensive and take more than 1 year (30,000 km). So I'm very happy with Nankang AS 1 that really surprised me :) Dry usually say no, they are very smooth and quiet. Wet'm a little worried because the precise driving times lacquer. Next time I'll try another brand, but also cheap, really worth it :) Read more Collapse
