What are run on flat tyres?

The run on flat tyres allow you to drive in the event of pressure loss. You can still drive safelt for an avarege of 80 km with the speed up to 80 km/h.

Run on flat tyres offer the highest level of safety. Puncture, will not make a risk of losing control of the car when driving at high speed. This type of tyre is most often fitted on high-performance cars with powerful engines.

Run Flat tyres

Due to their unique construction, Run on flat tyres are slightly more expensive than standard models and provide a less comfortable ride - they are stiffer and therefore absorb bumps less effectively. The higher tyre weight also increases rolling resistance and fuel consumption. Despite the disadvantages, Run Flat tyres are considered an excellent solution that improves safety and increases driver comfort (no need to change the wheel immediately).

System Run Flat

Their use requires functioning wheel pressure sensors.

The car must be adapted to them: it must have special suspension and properly tuned electronic systems (e.g. ABS, ESP).

The fitting of Run Flat tyres must only take place at professional tyre repair shops with the appropriate equipment.

Run on flat system

Manufacturers have their own solution systems that allow them to qualify for Run Flat technology. They can be divided into three basic groups: reinforced construction, self-sealing and support ring. Despite the differences, the idea behind run-on-flat tyres is the same: they allow you to drive a significant distance safely after a puncture.

Our customers' opinions on Run Flat Tyres tyres:

    Hankook Ventus S1 Evo2 K117B

The tyres replaced worn Pirelli Pzero tyres that had been used since new. I was a little afraid that I was replacing premium tyres with mid-range tyres. Now, after driving a few thousand miles, I can admit that my fears were groundless. These tyres are not inferior, and even in terms of subjective impressions they are superior to the Pirelli tyres in terms of driving comfort. Only the size of the protective rim is significantly smaller than that of the Pirelli. See more >

Good handling, feeling safe with runflat, good grip but early wear. Maybe the car is too heavy and Irish road surface is very rough, however the wear is noticeable in front tyres and as it seems in 10-15.000km tyres will need to be changed and they are quite expensive. For that reason next time I may think of something different. See more >

High level and peace of mind at an affordable price. Fine tires. Give the driver a feeling of comfort and safety. At least it's for me. I recommend, because by. I should not pay too much and be sure and provide it with EfficientGrip Goodyera Oponeo.co.uk tires. I am a very satisfied user of the same set ... for now! See more >

I bought these tires last season and alternate them with winter tires all year. the experience has been extremely positive. Good very good adhesion on dry tires, the car responds very well to driver settings giving a lot of confidence even when cornering. Compared to the tires that I had before the car has changed dramatically. Grip much more effective. Difficult to evaluate on rolling resistance I can say is that I have not experienced significant noise difference and did not change the average consumption. recommended See more >
