I have been using Nokian WR D3 on my BMW 318ti first winter. Previous years I was using Bridgestone Blizzak LM25. Nokian has better grip on ice and compacted snow than Blizzaks. Most of my driving is on local roads, up and down in Leinster hills, Ireland. So far I have been able to keep up with all 4x4 drivers on these roads and in bends where they slide off, I've had no problems.
