I did not use these tires in the mountainous regions, only hills with gentle climbs, and just a few winding roads. My car is equipped with both ESP and ABS, which definitely helps a lot. I am in the habbit of turning my ESP when stuck in snow or road conditions are so bad that it stops too often. The tires are good for the use of the city, or very careful driving outside the city, in the relatively cleaned streets. They are poor on the snow (but my driving style are not very quiet either, not very aggressive during the winter). If you are in a hurry, these are not the tires for you. If you can keep quiet and still drive a little under the speed limit on a snowy road, you'll be fine. Just do not go in very deep snow, since you will not be able to get out of it. The performance on thin ice is completely absent, my car entering a drift often enough even to go at moderate speeds. Allthough, if you drive cautiousely, you should not have a problem. Not a good tire to climb a steep hill covered in snow, especially if it is a low car. Opt for better brand tires. I will let down the tires when spring arrives and get me a Michelin Alpin tires set.
