    Opinion from outside IE

Tyres purchased in size 185/65 R15 for a car that essentially moves around the city. Due to virtually no winters, I do not see the need to use and hold two sets of tyres, hence the choice. They are not cheap, but still less expensive than buying and maintaining two sets of tyres for a car that drives up to 10k km per year. Michelins are the most appropriate. The car feels stable, comfortable and quiet. They are good on both dry and wet surfaces. Bought set a six months ago and had a chance to test them in the temperature range from +20 to -15. In the hot days the car does not floats and behaves same as in the cold temperatures. Brand new tyres have an 8 mm tread. After about 6k km, it is less than 0.5 mm less on both axes, so it should be long enough, even if the summer is very hot. I did not notice the differences in the rolling resistance. The only thing that concerns me is fact that subjectively on the snow or mud they are worse than Dębica Frigo 2 (yes I know that the tests on YT boasted a lot, but I have mine opinion) where I changed from, and admit that it was a 2 year old with almost full tread and this is definitely not a premium tyre (it costs just over half the price of the Michelin Crossclimate). I would choose them again, because I would rather use a single tyre within 5 years and replace it with a new one instead of throwing out two pairs of tyres with almost full tread because of the age of the rubber, or worse again ... If you make up to 10,000 a year, I recommend it in city traffic. If you live in the mountains, or you do more passes, only 2 sets of erasers, and so it will stay in my second car. Read more Collapse

I bought these tyres due to the need of replacing summer ones- changed from Pirelli P7. Un fortunately had no chance to test them in winter conditions yet, so I cannot judge, that’s why I level note 4. Durability also cannot judge, because I had them fitted for too short period. In terms of using these tyres in summer urban driving they are brilliant! There are so quiet and in premium class vehicle on the neutral the car levitating above the ground. I already had two other premium tyre sets and none was so quiet. Tyres very well absorb road irregularities. All I can say that my Audi A6 only proved how good and quiet the car can be. Already the assembly process of the road test, it turned out that they are very well balanced. The visibly lower combustion. On the motorway at higher speeds also less noisy , for example bars on the side of the motorway on the sections which are acoustically louder and give a safety resistance. With these tyres you cannot hear! If winter conditions turn out to be as good as in the summer, it never buy another tire model. I had my doubts about their appearance, but they are large, the tread looks very sporty and the side walls are indistinguishable from other summer. I have no doubt that the tires will face in winter - especially in recent years show that the tire change is meaningless and will be more than enough to fulfil their role. It is worth investing in these tyres and sincerely recommend! Read more Collapse

Before buying these tyres asking nearly a month of time. I checked the other tyres and comparing them all etc. I was talking with a lots of my friends discussing them experience. The opinions were divided. Some of my asked people I know where revive Michelins saying that all season cannot be good for all weather conditions. Even though I decided to buy these tyres. After fitting them I took off on a tour of 1800 km and I am really impressed :) Tyres are quiet, nicely suppress road inequalities. I’m curious how they will behave in the wet conditions. Germany motorway with no limits did 196 kmh in the rain, looking for water flowing tracks. Probably someone will say that it is stupid, but the effect of driving with these tires was and is wonderful for me, the car was going like on the rails.!!! gentle movement of the steering wheel and all that. The manufacturer has done a good job, as competition is probably already crying. I recommend these tyres for those who want to feel 100% safe driving his car. And I’m always curious to winter, I’m sure I share your opinion. For me, the best tyres for which so many have mounted. Read more Collapse

So far I did about 1k km mainly on motorway and in the city. In conclusion, I am satisfied. I will try to compare them to the previous tyres which were Dunlop Winter Sport 3D for winter and Michelin Energy Saver for summer. From Dunlop’s certainly quieter and Michelins too (but keep in mind that these tyres were around 6 years old. They run very well, I see no objection. They are not worse than those I had, and there is no problem with the change. It is possible that Dunlop’s would be a little better in the snow, but in winter, very rarely ride in such conditions (in practice a few days, or not at all). Mileage I am traveling during the year is steady so even if some times my old tyres were better in average Michelins were much better. Passes are fairly evenly distributed throughout the year for me, even if they were also times than others tires would be better. The most important think is that there is no need to change them every season. I recommend Read more Collapse

It describes usage in period from November to March. When I bought Michelins, my local dealer who has not had them in his offer yet strongly revive buying an all season tyres. He was wrong! Winter season 2015/2016 same as last winter did not surprise with low temperatures and snow falls. Light snow falls and light icing in the morning only. Tyres did a great job! My attempts of emergency braking on the snow does not differ much braking on winter tyres. Grip in the wet (rain) - EXCELLENT! In dry conditions much better than winter tyres (and summer). Test in the summer heat has not been carried yet. Regarding the road noise, they are my first directional tyres and they are quieter than the summer asymmetric ones - are really great quiet. Well, most important advantage is tat there is no need to replace them every season :) for example, in Germany, no one gives a fine for the lack of winter tyres :) :) :) I recommend Read more Collapse

Scale of scores: Highest lowest

The process of designing and improving Michelin CrossClimate lasted as long as 3 years. 150 persons worked on the development of this tyre in total and it was subjected to 1,000 lab tests. Over those years, the model was road-tested in 7 European countries. During the tests, the tyre travelled 5 million kilometres. Its performance was tested in a wide range of temperatures (- 30°C to 40°C).

Compared to other all-season tyres, the model was designed using completely different technologies. It is these high-tech treatments that made the model feature the highest tyre labelling class (A) in terms of wet grip. The tyre achieved that class when tested according to the criteria for summer and winter tyres. What’s more, the tyre also received the highest tyre labelling rating in terms of noise.

Examples of differences between Michelin CrossClimate and other summer or all-season tyres:

- 5 m shorter braking distance on a dry surface compared to an all-season tyre (at 14°C),

- 7 m shorter braking distance on a dry surface compared to a winter tyre (at 14°C),

- 3 m shorter braking distance on a wet surface compared to a summer tyre (at 6°C).

The high performance of these tyres in all seasons has its roots in the modern tread. One of its most characteristic components are the 3D sipes. Their pattern is derived from summer tyres, but the geometry is taken from the tread of winter tyres. Thanks to this double characteristic, the sipes change their wideness depending on the road conditions. This makes the tyre bite into the pavement, ensures excellent traction and stability at bends. All this is regardless of the conditions (also on slippery surfaces).

A very important element of Michelin CrossClimate is its shoulder blocks with their bevelled edges. They maintain a high contact with the surface, ensuring short braking distances in both summer and winter.

The tyre design includes a flexible compound which also improves its performance on dry, wet and snowy roads. Moreover, such a solution ensures a lower rolling resistance, which saves on fuel. The silica used in the tyre material reduces heat emissions.

The tyre is manufactured in only 4 plants in Europe (two of them are located in Spain and two in Germany).

Michelin is one of the largest tyre manufacturers on the market. The company was founded in 1889 in France. It owns such brands as Kleber, Kormoran or BFGoodrich. Michelin offer includes the highest class products.
